I’ve just read an article from the Good HouseKeeping (by the way… a place we’ve been featured in as a great gift to give!) about September being the time of year to declutter.
And it got me thinking about how systems are so important to achieving our goals (more on that later).
More specifically for me, my children’s bedroom clutter required an overhaul.
Especially, after a Summer of collecting bits and bobs on days out, it has added to the need to have a big sort out! (try not to judge the photo below)
But there’s that feeling to address first…… the complete overwhelm of where to start?
Perhaps for you it’s a hidden away cupboard or shed? Maybe you have a dreaded drawer of doom?
For me, it’s tackling the clutter that has materialised in my Daughter’s bedroom.
Something that needs a helping hand from me to kick to start.
What should be tackled first?
A category should be chosen and worked through but which one? Toys, clothes, the growing collection of ‘precious’ stones from the beach!
And then, the complications set in…some toys belong to multiple categories & just like that I quickly find myself down the Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole of details & I’m far off track.

Puzzles and games …..
It can be a dizzying jumble! (The type you want to close the door on & get a cup of tea instead).
But this is no trivial task. The rewards are worth it. A lighter feeling, a calmer home & peace of mind.
How to achieve this though? I’ve figured out it’s all in the system. All the ‘things‘ in their place & easy to find!
Liken this to not knowing where to start collecting a loved one’s life memories, or your own, & it can at first seem too big a job to start.
